One of the oldest wine estates in Australia
Around an hour’s drive from Adelaide’s CBD, Seppeltsfield is a winery surrounded by lush trees and greenery. It was established in 1851 by Joseph and Johanna Seppelt. During 1878, Benno (who was the son of the founder) decided to stow away port wine in an oak barrel for 100 years. Future generations had the discipline to maintain this practice and never opened the barrel until its century of age.

Fino Seppeltsfield cooks with the best local produce
After a session of wine-tasting with their friendly staff, you can enjoy casual fine dining at the restaurant next door. Fino specialises in bringing out flavours of South Australian produce, with its dishes influenced by international cuisines.
The Wagyu brisket was delightfully fatty, the squishy sourdough bread was delicious, and the sauce-bathed prawns were irresistible (although on the smaller side).
Plan to spend at least 5 hours to enjoy the gentle calmness of Seppeltsfield winery. If you’re interesting in discovering more about their heritage and wine-making process, tours are available.
