Best cafes in Sydney to remote work from
Being able to enjoy a meal at Chatswood BBQ & Hotpot 東泰林 is my motivation to work hard.
Life as a digital nomad can sometimes be only about finding the right cafe to remote work from. At times when staying in my bedroom becomes monotonous, I appreciate the ambience of coffee-making sounds, people conversing, and fellow digital nomads typing.

Tea Journal
- 44/436 Victoria Ave, Chatswood
On the ground floor of Chatswood Interchange and a short walk from the train station’s ticket gates, Tea Journal is a popular place for study and remote work. University students like to write assignments in this calming tea shop, where chiffon cakes and black sesame lattes are served.

Nelsons Cafe
- 86 Burwood Rd, Burwood
Across the road from Burwood Park and a few minutes’ walk from Westfield Burwood, Nelsons Cafe is a friendly place to catch-up on work. It shares the same venue as Coro·88 Burwood, where there is more seating.
I like remote working from Coro·88 in particular because you can order bistro-style food together with coffee. Not only does the restaurant serves some of the best steaks in Burwood, it has also won accolades in the local Perfect Plate Awards.

Cicco Zetland
- 781-785 Elizabeth St, Zetland
For digital nomads who like blog writing, Cicco Zetland is a cafe and Italian restaurant with a cosy local vibe. I love how the seating spills outdoors. With the sun’s rays pleasantly warming and a cappucino in hand, my brain’s creative abilities awaken.
Cicco Zetland serves yummy breakfast burgers and oven-fired pizzas.
See Google Map link to Cicco Zetland here. It’s within walking distance to Green Square Station.
Club Rose Bay
- 1 Vickery Ave, Rose Bay
Located in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, the long-standing RSL Club of Rose Bay has a romantic little beach in front of it with serene views over Rose Bay Harbour.
Club Rose Bay has a charming heritage vibe with modern refurbishments. There is a restaurant called Villaggio Bistro that serves Italian food. The bar serves refreshing beers and wine. Coffee is made at the bistro.
There is ample seating to type away on a laptop while working remotely. I enjoy coming on afternoons when it’s less busy – thewhole RSL club is peaceful!

De Vu Cafe Burwood
- Shop 1/210 Burwood Rd, Burwood
I have fond impressions of Vietnamese cafes from my time in Ho Chi Minh City. De Vu Cafe continues that impression with its earthy tones, variety of drinks, and Vietnamese street food.
Tucked away inside the arcade it’s located in, De Vu Cafe has a seating area that is great for solo remote work. It’s a popular place for locals from Burwood to catch-up in, so I’d recommend visiting during weekday early afternoons when it tends to be less busy.

The Nest
- 1 Anderson St, Chatswood
Named after its unique bird’s nest seating area, this cafe is on the top floor of Westfield Chatswood. Digital nomads will enjoy the sunlight that flows through the sky ceiling here, although sometimes there is a bit of glare. You will find The Nest next to Uniqlo.
See Google Map link to “The Nest” (Chatswood) here. It’s best to visit during weekday afternoons when Westfield Chatswood is less busy.
Regatta Club
- UTS Haberfield Rowers Club, Dobroyd Parade, Haberfield
Every morning run deserves a coffee after, right? If you completed your run near Regatta Club, you must check-out their waterfront kiosk even if it’s just to soak in the relaxed atmosphere.
Regatta Club is upstairs in the same building as UTS Haberfield Rowers Club. The al fresco seating overlooks Iron Cove Bay and you can see people exercising and walking their dogs.
