Hearty Italian restaurant near Wynyard station

With its alfresco dining, high street-facing windows and flaming heaters, Bar Totti’s is a perenially busy presence on Sydney’s George Street. Home to a refined yet laidback atmosphere, this spacious restaurant is popular for group events.

Wood-fired bread is made from your order

Bar Totti’s actually has its original location in Bondi. Its signature pastas, house-made puffy bread, and fabulous antipasti menu garnered so much satisfaction that its current location in the Merivale precinct opened in 2020. Expect a lively ambience inside, with chatter from the diners blending with dishes being prepared directly on a counter at the back. Watching bread freshly made from kneading dough is fascinating (watch this TikTok video for more).

Spinach campanelle, milk-braised pork, chilli

Savour conversation and drink until late night

Being right next to Merivale’s massive nightclub ivy Sydney, and being in one of the busiest parts of the CBD, Bar Totti’s has its own appeal for a fun night out. The horse-shoe shaped bar is open until 2am on Thursdays to Saturdays (12am on other days) and often hosts Italian DJ music.

Anchovies, chicken liver parfait & wood-fired bread

The menu reflects the spirit of Bar Totti’s: to create authentic Italian cuisine for friends. As such, many dishes are designed to share. You’ll want to graze on a few of its antipasti selections first. The Chicken liver parfait glides as a delicious paste over the wood-fired bread, and the oil-drenched Anchovies are powerful in flavour. The pastas were satisfying, especially the Spinach campanelle which was rich in its combination with milk-braised pork. The tiramisu is a dessert well worth sinking your spoon into 😉
