A new home for social and gaming fun

Fortress Sydney has recently opened in Sydney’s Central Park Mall and it looks to be a stimulating realm for gamers and lovers of fantasy / science fiction genres. The venue spans 2 floors and has five key areas: The Tavern, PC Gaming Room, Arcade, Bar 2315 and most prominently, the Esports Arena. Scroll down for pictures of all these areas, or watch a short tour on TikTok.

The dedication to design is admirable, especially given the size of Fortress Sydney. In a space that can accomodate 1,000 people, RGB lights, medieval decor and fantasy imagery are examples of thoughtful elements which make you feel a world away from Sydney’s bustling CBD.

Hanging out at The Tavern feels cosy, especially with the expansive seating, warm wooden finishings, and virtual fireplace at one end. Bar 2315 is a futuristic, cyber-punk themed space, where the recipes for the drink menu are decided by ChatGPT

Supported by Telstra, Alienware and Intel

Fortress Sydney is open until 11pm unless it’s Friday or Saturday, when it closes at 2am. Amongst the trivia and board-game night reasons to stay this late, there is also the social fun of playing in the PC Gaming Room. The hardware here is all powered by Alienware (courtesy of Dell), with the internet speeds supported by Telstra. For streaming enthusiasts, you can book private pods equipped with audio equipment from RØDE.

The Esports Arena has an absorbing atmosphere and retractable bleacher seats on 2 levels

What promises to gain traction as a venue for national and international events is the giant Esports Arena. This hall has vantage points from its retractable bleacher seats as well as from the overhead balcony. The two giant screens, stage, and two panels of professional gaming set-ups anticipates the excitement and drama of live competitions. For upcoming events, visit Fortress Sydney’s website.
