Lightscape is a multi-sensory and immersive journey

This year brings a special night time event to Sydney. Lightscape is an internationally-acclaimed exhibition of spectacular multimedia and larger-than-life structures. Your walking journey begins at Queen Elizabeth II Gates near the Opera House. This is where purchased tickets are checked and gorgeous views of Sydney Harbour can be photographed.

The walking path for Lightscape begins near the world famous Opera House

Save the battery in that camera though because for the next 1.5 hours of recommended walking time, you’ll be witnessing the Royal Botanic Garden like never before. Glowing tree canopies guide your path and music sets the atmosphere in different exhibitions. From fire-breathing dragons to a sea of ethereal plants, you’ll see lightworks by local and international artists. Watch some on Youtube.

A unique part of Vivid 2023

Along with Dark Spectrum (in tunnels below Wynyard Station) and Wild Lights (at Taronga Zoo), Lightscape is an event that offers visitors a more extraordinary Vivid experience. The curated journey enhances appreciation of Botanic Gardens, its precious horticulture, and serene landscape.

The light tunnel on everyone’s social media

Lightscape brings you into different worlds and if you’re visiting with your family, expect the kids to be in awe. The multimedia installations are breathtaking in scale and are entrancing to watch. You feel different emotions as you walk through the silent beauty of Botanic Gardens. At different points you’ll feel thoughtful, joyful, and wondrous.

If you’re feeling hungry, there is a food truck area at the start of the Lightscape trail where you can enjoy hot food from the likes of Sharon Kwan Kitchen and Zeus Street Greek. Here you can buy mulled wine and hot chocolate too 😉
