Sonder's Sydney language exchange meet-ups arrive at Ni Hao Bar on Pitt St, CBD

There is a bar and restaurant on the first floor of The Civic Hotel in Sydney’s CBD that pays homage to Hong Kong pop culture. With walls decorated by neon signage and posters of movie stars like Bruce Lee and Ip Man, Ni Hao Bar is one of the most exciting venues in the area around Town Hall station in Sydney CBD.

Starting from Tuesday 8 August 2023, Ni Hao Bar will be hosting language exchange meet-ups run by Sonder Sydney. Between 6pm to 10pm, you’ll be greeted by a host who will give you flags depending on which country you’re from and what languages you’d like to practise. For example if you’re from Japan and you’d like to practise French, Italian and Chinese, you’ll be given four flags. Watch this TikTok video to see how it works.

The meet-ups run by Sonder Sydney are social, friendly and informative. If you’re new to Sydney, you can meet friends who you can explore the city with. If you’re learning English, you can put it in conversational practice with other speakers.

The entry fee to Sonder Sydney’s Tuesday events at Ni Hao Bar is $3 (you can pay using cash or card). Expect to meet people from different walks of life, including those have just arrived on working holiday, for a professional job or as an international student. Everyone is interested to learn about different cultures and improve their language skills. Better yet, you can enjoy one of Ni Hao Bar’s delicious cocktails while you’re at it 😉
