Terrey Hills Golf and Country Club has an 18-hole championship course

I had never been to a golf course prior to my recent trip up to Sydney’s northern suburb of Terrey Hills. A high standard has now been set for any future golf courses I visit because this one was immaculately maintained, understated in its prestige, and diverse in its offerings.

A beautifully conditioned golf course experience with undulating greens and self-driving caddies.

To experience its offerings, one must be a member of Terrey Hills Golf and Country Club, or a friend of a member. The current community is an exclusive 750 people, and to my understanding new members can only join through buying the membership from an existing member.

With a backyard of vast bushland, the feeling of being in the clubhouse is calm and serene. You could be reading a newspaper in the grand entrance room while sipping on a cappucino, or catching up on the sports news from a large TV display. For lunch, you can order a scrumptious beef burger with a beer from The Wisteria Restaurant, or pair a delightfully presented piece of fish with a wine. The wine selection is comprehensive, and includes French champagne, Western Australian Chardonnay, and alluring Shiraz.

The kitchen of the Wisteria Restaurant specialises in catering for private functions.

The golfing facilities at Terrey Hills Golf and Country Club include two putting greens where you can practise your stroke, a 250-metre driving range, and locker rooms that are available to hire on an annual basis. The golf course was designed by Graham Marsh, with a turf quality that is consistent and pleasurable to stroll on. Deservedly so, the club has been glowingly reviewed by Australian Golf Digest.
