The legend is back in her Petersham restaurant, at least for a few months

An announcement regarding closure on Sharon Kwan Kitchen’s Instagram in May 2022 inevitably made a few people sad. They would have thought, “where else can I enjoy delicious Malaysian Street food now?” In Sydney’s inner-west suburb of Petersham and its surrounds, there aren’t many options to choose from. Sharon Kwan Kitchen had definitely been a community favourite.

Sharon Kwan Kitchen’s “Chu Yuk Fun” (pork noodle soup) can be enjoyed again.

In past, regulars would text Sharon in advance for orders of her Malaysian classics. Char Kway Teow, Hokkien Char Noodles, Nasi Lemak and Laksa were among the meals that many people in and around Petersham looked forward to eating. The flame-grilled chicken was so popular that Channel 7 came to interview about it.

The past year has seen Sharon Kwan Kitchen on wheels. Their food truck has been catering for festivals and events (and still does!).

Sharon Kwan Kitchen is open Thursdays and Fridays with limited seating available

Now, after over a year of catering for different parts of Sydney inside a food truck, the legend of Sharon Kwan Kitchen is BACK. If the approaching 400 Likes on her single Instagram and Facebook Post (not to mention the sharing of it) are anything to go by, people are EXCITED.

Offering plenty of “wok hei” (flavour from the wok), Sharon’s Char Kway Teow has been sorely missed.

Sharon’s home of Malaysian food in Petersham will be open only on Thursdays and Fridays from 11am until 8:30pm (this is subject to change, for up-to-date announcements please refer to the restaurant’s social media). They will be serving a smaller scale menu and seating will be limited. The available dishes can be viewed and orders can be made via texting 0423 390 818.
