You don’t always need to go to the library or rent an office to get work done.
In days where working remotely is more common, you may feel a little distanced working from home all the time. Surrounded by the same environment, as comfortable and familiar as it may feel, can feel monotonous.
If you have a healthy amount of mobile hotspot data and projects that need to be completed, check-out this list of cafes in Sydney’s CBD.
On the ground floor of this understated hotel is The Sussex Store, where you can order coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages and gourmet kitchen cuisine. The space is usually quiet with comfortable seating. Power outlets are available to plug in & charge while you type away.
The Palace Tea Room and Vienna Coffee Co are cafes in the middle of the 1st floor which have sprawling seating and are convenient to work from. The insides of the venues tend to be more busy with customers so if you’re looking for a quieter space, go to the main common area of the QVB floor. There are tables here which belong separately to each cafe.
A stylish mainstay in Haymarket’s buzzing Darling Square precinct, Edition is a polished, elegant eatery specialising in coffee and Japanese cuisine. Walk to the end of Steam Mill Lane and you’ll see it. Don’t expect to be able to sit at Edition for as long as the other cafes in this list, because they can get quite busy with diners.
A short walk from Central Park Mall and hidden in the alleyway next to Spice Alley, Concrete Jungle Cafe serves global fare in a light-filled and spacious setting.
I like how relaxed the vibe is in here! The staff are attentive and there are a decent number of tables where you can remote work from.
This hip, modern complex of shops, eateries and bars is a favourite hang-out spot for families, friends and couples. Darling Square is a brief walk from the world-famous Darling Harbour.
Kürtősh is a lovely cafe to remote work from. Aside from coffee and teas, they make chimney cakes. These are baked until crispy brown on the outside and soft n’ fluffy on the inside. Perfect as a treat!
I also like working from Matcha-Ya, a Japanese cafe that’s a 2-minute walk away in Steam Mill Lane. Their calming, wooden interior contrasts the busier surrounding at Kürtősh. The menu has a wide range of matcha-themed desserts, including Houjicha Soft Serve and Matcha Tiramisu.
